I started working with Brandi and Sandy of Body Destinations while working though injuries in the NHL. They helped keep me on the ice and reduced my recovery time between games. I have since been part of the 09 Stanley cup win with my team mates of the Pittsburgh Penguins, and I continue to receive massage therapy as part of my regular training.

Sport & Trigger Point Therapy

A first aid pressure technique used in the removal of pain. It is used to stretch soft tissue and muscles. Due to stress, illness and/or overuse, the body creates Trigger Points (knots), also known as a spasm. They occur when fatigued muscle fibers tangle and remain contracted. By using direct pressure on and around these trigger points, circulation is increased and painful knots are broken down. Benefits - While using deep pressure and stretching the muscles, you have a greater relief of pain and spasm.

Customized massage technique for expecting mothers. Recipients rest on a massage bed with a pregnancy pillow to support the little one. A firm, but gentle pressure is used to improve the circulation, ease muscle aches and tension, and create relaxation.

Lymphedema Treatment

A lymphatic massage session for women who develop lymphedema after surgery for breast cancer starts with light massage on the surface of the skin of the neck. Lymphatic massage is also indicated in other areas where lymphedema can occur (neck, head, legs, abdomen, groin)  The therapist gently rubs, strokes, taps or pushes the skin in directions that follow the structure of the lymphatic system so that accumulated lymph fluid can drain through proper channels. Lymphatic drainage is very gentle, is not painful and doesn’t have a stimulating effect. Each session lasts from 45 to 60 minutes.  The best results occur when the therapist and patient work together to control the lymphedema.  Instructions are given for home treatment between office visits.
